China, from South to North
Submitted by soulfulscottish on Tue, 2010-12-07 19:51
Does anyone have any good information about routes through China, going from South to North. The proposed route is to cross into China at Mengla and then head straight up to Mongolia. I have read some terrible things about the roads, or lack of, in the Yunnan province. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

hi there I don't know who had
hi there
I don't know who had told you about the roads :-) but the 213 up to Xian is just awesome :-)
The road is very very very good (exept some 150 km between Kinming and Ghengdu - stones, no tarmac)
and very impressive with the changing landscape and tribes
From jungle to tibetan grasslands etc.
so . .don't worry
if you ask about the condition of the roads - China is not a place to worry about it :-)
