Hi guys, we are leaving in 3 weeks
Hi! We are leaving around the 15th of march. Our plan is to travel from the Netherlands to Turkey, then Georgia - Armenia - Iran - Turkmenistan - Uzbekistan - Tadjikistan - Kirgistan - China - ? who knows?!
May i ask why you give up on Iran? We have been in doubt on this part of the route.. THe boats over the Caspian sea can be HELL to take and the part of Kazachstan / Uzbekistan (Karakalpakia)where you arrive isn´t much fun either we have heard. So, we are eager to get some live information from the spot!!
We are taking the 3th part of the Iron curtain trail to the black sea. Maybe we will meet sime of you along the way!

Well, only reason why I give
Well, only reason why I give up is I am a little afraid to ride through Iran alone. But I again think about Iran, because a lot of people say that is no reason to feel e afraid. I'd very happy to find a companies.
Anna, when you plan to arrive in this part of world? (Turkey, Gruzia, Azer)
Well, that will be around
Well, that will be around june, so thats not very soon. We will leave the Netherlands in a few weeks.
I understand that you prefer not to travel alone through Iran. I think it is very brave that you are traveling alone by bike! WOW!
I have spoken to women that have cycled alone through Iran tough. But The most important thing is that you feel safe about it offcourse. A travel agency from Turkmenistan (STANtours) advises us to travel through Iran, rather than Kazachstan or Turkmenbasi/Turkmenistan over the Caspian Sea.
I will search for the contact of a women that has travelled Iran solo, maybe she has usefull information for you!
Hope you find company!

Anna, I traveled with my
Anna, I traveled with my boyfriend but few weeks ago we are separated.
My plan is to spend Maj in Gruzia and Azer, than I'll see. Summer is not the best time to travel through Iran.
Do you think on Lorreta Henderson? She rode alone and I follow her blog.
I'm doing most of that route
I'm doing most of that route (I'll hit Germany from the UK mid-May) but after Tajikistan will go straight across China to Beijing (getting there mid-October)...you can check out my full route at www.zacplusbike.com - would be more than happy to do some of the route with company.
cool info site
Oh, maybe you know the site, maybe not. But www.tour.tk is a good website for cycling info around a lot of countries, including the STAN ones!

Hi Kin,
great to hear,
do you have any site, any phone number or any photos?
Don't know how to recognize you "on the road"...
Also, Internt access will be very limited when I'm cycling.
Where are you from and where do you start?
Cheers, Stephan
Similar route
Hi Stephan,
I am doing something very similar as well. I am currently in UK though heading to Europe. My plan is to make it to Turkey and across the Pamir Highway before the snow flies. I am doing this slow and easy. 50 to 75km per day so far ...though that's in very hilly terrain, and I will be tenting mostly through Europe to keep expenses down. Anyway, feel free to get in touch! I would also welcome travel mates along the way!
Cheers,
Darren
Hi to all of you, I`m in
Hi to all of you,
I`m in Belgrad right now, continuing tomorrow following
the Duna/Dunav/Donau eastwards. Anybody around there?
I`m tenting, going between 90-150km a day, if it`s flat
as it is right now.
Cheers, Stephan

I'm not far away at all -
I'm not far away at all - tomorrow I will be mostly on the Danube, finishing tomorrow around Poiana Mare in Bulgaria. I think I might be a bit ahead of you though? I'm cycling 150-160km most days - I'll be in Istanbul on the 28th. However, I'll be there for a week before I ride the Black Sea coast so we could do a bit of riding together then perhaps? Let me know :)
