Helsinki to Istanbul - maps, travel companions, camping, etc.

I'll be starting an Helsinki to Istanbul bike ride on the 11th of July, with the objective of reaching Istanbul by September 1st. This is my first long distance bicycle ride and I would be very grateful to those that would share any tips-advice with me. Of particular interest would be information about: maps, routes, camping, hosts, etc.

good luck, we are heading that way ourselves at moment, from Poland, but are travelling at much slower pace than you. Poland has many campsites that are good price and you can usually find cheap rooms to sleep if you look for signs saying POKOJE, NOCLEGI OR AGROTOURISM. We get double rooms for 30 or 35 Zoloty each.
1 Euro is 4 Zoloty. Dont know what maps to get but get one that is better than ours !
