HELP!
Re: Access Denied
Hi Bob,
I took a quick look at your warmshowers account and it looks fine. You validated successfully so you should be all ready to go.
Oftentimes when get the "access denied" message it means that cookies are turned off. To make the warmshowers website operate correctly they must be enabled. Here is an excerpt from our FAQ on this subject:
Question: I log in, but it still says I'm not logged in (or I click the link for a one-time login to reset my password and get "access denied")
Answer: This is where you log in, and don't get any error, but it still says you're not logged in. The problem is usually "cookies" being turned off or not working. To log into the site you must allow "cookies". These are not a threat to you and are required by most internet sites to work correctly. To allow cookies, you can
* In Internet Explorer, choose Tools->Internet Options->Privacy and set it to anything less than "block all cookies" or...
* Click "sites" in the same dialog box and allow cookies for www.warmshowers.org or...
* In some cases, we've seen IE misbehave and you'll need to delete all cookies (Tools->Internet Options->General->Delete Cookies)
* Try out the excellent free firefox browser as an alternative. If you can't install firefox because you don't have rights on the computer, try Firefox Portable Edition, which doesn't require any installation. (Randy carries this installed on a flash drive when touring to avoid this sort of problem at internet cafes in Latin America.)
* In Internet Explorer 7 you can fix most problems by going to Tools->Internet Options and on the "Advanced" tab click the "reset" button.
* Make sure you've cleared the cache: In IE6 Tools->Internet Options->Delete Files. In Firefox Tools->Clear Private Data; check "cache" and "Authenticated sessions" and click "Clear private data now".
* Any program that blocks cookies will cause this problem. For example, CA Security Center may block cookies in all programs. Try temporarily disabling your firewall and virus protection to see if they're the problem.
If this does not solve your problem please send me an email. Don't worry, we'll get you up and running in short order.
Regards,
Kevin

Driver needed for world cycling record attempt
My friend Alan Bate is attempting to set the world record for cycling around the world. Alan is going to try to complete it in an incredible 99 days. His aim is to do between 175 to 200 miles a day for 99 days. I am one of his main team members and we are trying to raise awareness and would appreciate any kind of help and support from world wide cycling fans.
We are currently looking for a volunteer driver to cross our South American leg (Brazil, Uruguay) and our India to Bangladesh leg. Has to be over 25 and a bikie preferred. Long hours and a motorhome but good laugh and some tears guaranteed.
if you think you might know anyone all the help would be great as it would be a mammoth adventure.

Teacher Looking for Riding Partners for Pacific Coast
Hey! I'm a teacher on summer break, and I'm looking for people to ride with! Ideally, I'd like to bike part of the Pacific Coast (I live in SF), and I have off until Aug. 15th, so my dates are flexible. I haven't toured in a couple of years (toured on the east coast where I am from), but I have always wanted to tour on the west coast! Looking for advice, partners, etc.
west coast tour
I have been told that sticking near I-5 is absolutely beautiful, but I am also looking to tour out that ways. I am starting from upstate New York and going to San Francisco. It snowed on me in the western Dakotas and Montana in June. I have been told snow continues until July, but it gets hot in august, so I recommend planning around that. I also spent time in the Mojave desert. The lower desert is nearly uninhabited and half the towns no longer exist because they lost their water source. It was too hot for me to handle in May and June, but I know that it is beautiful in the fall and spring. That is all the advice I know, good luck on your trip.
Lodging in Louisville, Kentucky ASAP
I apologise for the late notice for this request. I am arriving in Louisville, Kentucky on Wednesday, August 4 and staying through Sunday, August 8, 2010. I will be in Kentucky competing in the 2010 Masters National Road Race and Criterium Championships, Cherokee Park and Jeffersonville, IN, Friday and Saturday, respectively.
I would hope to have lodging somewhere in Downtown Louisville so I can ride to each of the events. Please feel free to ring me or email me with opportunities.

Re: Lodging in Louisville, Kentucky ASAP
Hi Max,
You may have better luck getting a response if you (1) contact possible warmshowers hosts in the Louisville area individually; and/or (2) post your question as a new topic in one of the forums.
Regarding item (1) please see either the video "How to find hosts on warmshowers.org" (http://www.warmshowers.org/content/video-how-find-hosts-warmshowers.org) or reference the Q/A "How do you find and request hospitality" in the second category "Fundamentals" in the FAQ (http://www.warmshowers.org/faq)
Regarding item (2) the forum "Touring Notes -- Your tours, planned tours, looking for riders" may be a good choice (http://www.warmshowers.org/forums/touring-notes-your-tours-planned-tours...)
And good luck in your competition this weekend.
Regards,
Kevin

From Chicago to Seaside Oregon (Lewis + Clark Trail)
On Oct Third 2010 I leave Chicago and head East Thru Illinois and Iowa catching The Lewis and Clark Trail on the western side of Iowa. From there I head north into South Dakota thru Pierre and North Dakota thru Bismark. Because of the time of year that I'm traveling I will probably take an Amtrak train into Washington (Spokane), from Minot, head south to Clarkston Washington where I'll catch the Lewis and Clark Trail again heading west to the coast. I did this trip last year and did the Washington side so I might try the Oregon side this time. If you could offer me a place to set my tent up and a shower, I'd greatly appreciate it. Or you might want to join me at anytime along the way. All are welcome!

Route 66
I am an Australian coming to the USA to ride Route 66 in March 2012. I'm looking to buy and equip a bike in Chicago and set out on April Fool's Day. I know riding East-West could be asking for headwind trouble, but I want to "motor West". I have accomodation offers in Chicago, Tulsa and Flagstaff. Any suggestions/comments are welcome.
Big Charity Bike Ride USA!
Dear Sirs,
I am currently undertaking a cycle tour with a friend which started in Los Angeles in September, and which is due to finish next week in Miami. On arriving in Miami, we are looking to sell both of our bikes and equipment.
We are both using Trek 7.2 hybrid bikes (1x20" 1x 17.5") with rear pannier racks fitted. Both bikes were purchased brand new from a cycle store in Los Angeles at the start of September.
We are keen to know whether you would be interested in taking a look at our bikes with a view to purchasing them from us? If so, please feel free to either email me at this address, or give me a call on 909-553-4643.
Many thanks,
Robert Norris
