passing iran- pakistan border

hello everybody, we(me and my boyfriend) are thinking about cycling to new zealand. starting in europe trough turkey, iran, pakistan, india and ect. need an advice about cycling through iran- pakistan border. recently in the news read about kidnapped tourist in that part of iran and that it was hard to get hotel room for a night during kidnapping night in Zahedan. I'm wandering what was really going on there, cause media usually makes things a bit bigger then they really are. is it clever to cross border in Mirjaveh, or it's better to pass it in other point eg Pishin? we are very low budget travellers was wandering is it ok to camp in iran as well? thanks for any info in advance.

Pakistan - Iran Border

My wife and I are planning pretty much the same trip, we are going to London to start pedalling East. I do not think this board can be done safely. I think the more safe way will be to go around through Russia and the Caspian sea. May me our friend Daisuke Nakanishi can advise about it because he knows about the area and is presently there. Please, let me know whatever you have learn about your future trip. Warm regards Carlos and Nara Ferrandis Now is Quebec City

we are thinking to leave

we are thinking to leave Europe in early March. I know that i'm asking too much in advance but i would like to know situation to choose the direction to collect info about visas. and i can't stop thinking about the travelling:) to travel trough russia in march by bikes is a bit too cold:)

Russia in March to cold - Iran instead?

No idea about Russia in March. To get an impression on Iran in the colder months of the year watch "Time for Drunken Horses". http://imdb.com/title/tt0259072/ Here in Austria I cycle all-the-year since 1999. No matter if snow or ice. Bought cheap "winter cycling gloves" at Hofer (Aldi) for around 7€. "Cold fingers" was never an issue. Good luck and take care! Regards Tino from Villach

thanks for a nice tips. i'm

russia is march is cold..i really know that. thanks for a nice tips anyway. i'm not afraid to get cold cycling, i'm a bit worried about sleeping outside. we are very low budget travellers. our only accomodation we can afford is a tent:) or if somebody suggest his/hers hospitality. thanks anyway.

Russia in March

hi, as russian I could clarify the situation. In western regions like Moscow it's about +10 Celcius in later March but in siberian Novosibirsk it's about 0 of Celcius and wet atmospheric precipitates occur, roads are iced. Surely, you couldn't sleep outside without special equipment. April is with flows of water from melting snow. You could comfortably visit the central siberian cities from the beginning of May till the middle of October when it becomes cold and first snow falls.
