"The Rules"
Well, we don't have very many rules, but there are a few.
- The member information on this site is to be used only for members to contact each other about hospitality , and not for any other purpose. No commercial uses, please, and no non-hospitality uses. People have graciously given their information for the purpose of arranging hospitality. (No B&B's, no commercial uses at all. Thanks.)
- Minors are not allowed to use the site. Sorry, for legal and liability reasons, minors (people not of legal age) are not allowed to use the site.
- The WSL is for hospitality for private individuals (or couples or very small groups) touring on bicycles. Please don't use it for other types of hospitality - for your large group of teenagers doing a cross-country ride, or for your large-group fund-raising event (even though it's for AIDS or cancer or some other fine cause).
- Please keep your information up-to-date, and please be responsive . Every cyclist deserves to expect at least a response from each host contacted. If your information is out of date or you are not responsive, it can be very frustrating for a cyclist.
- Please log into the site at least once every year and check your information We request that you log into the site at least once every year to check your information and update it. Accounts that get out of date will be deleted (we'll send you an email first).
- Please, oh PLEASE if you contact a host about visiting them and your plans change, let them know! Don't just not show up. There are many complaints in the forums about this.
- If someone shows up at your door without prior correspondence and agreement, please turn them away. Obviously this is your call, but showing up without making arrangements has nothing to do with our organization and is a violation of the ideals of this group.
- Hosts can request references from previous hosts (or other things).
- Hosts are not allowed to require any payment, and no businesses (hotels, B&B's, etc.) are accepted into membership. Guests, of course, may help out as needed and of course you can fix a meal, bring some beer, etc.
- Please let your prospective host know if you have a website explaining your route.
- If you request notice and someone calls and doesn't give you notice, feel free to say no.
Thanks to you from the community of touring cyclists!

Read your hosts COMPLETE posting
It's become evident to me that some of our prospective guests are not reading the hosts listing completely
IE Not giving requested notice, showing up un-announced, showing up with greater numbers than host can accommodate
I know it's nice to be able to search by city and just "assume" that if someone has their name on the list that you will be automatically welcomed with open arms. Unfortunately, this is NOT always going to be the case. Currently I host people from here and couchsrufing as well so... As a courtesy to your hosts...
PLEASE BE SURE YOU READ AND UNDERSTAND YOUR HOST'S LISTING COMPLETELY !
There is very likely a good reason why they have put certain information on the site. It really helps avoid any mis-understandings and resultant bad feelings if you simply take the time to read through the ENTIRE posting on WarmShowers. I'm sure all hosts would be happy to answer any questions you might have via phone or email.
