A suggestion to recognise WARM SHOWERS GLOBAL status.
Is it possible now due to more WS members living in the REST OF THE WORLD than in USA, that the home page can have the world map, opposed to the map of USA? Or better, a Map of Australia? (ok thats a joke) haha. The world map tells it how it really is in our global community.

That's a good point - the WS home screen before signing in really should showcase the site to the visitor.

I always thought the home page reflected the geographical region from where you are logging in. But the home page is basically being updated at this moment.
I assumed Russell was referring to the pre-login home page - that shows just a jpeg image of the map centred on the US. That's why I think for the newby coming to the site it should show WS as the global community it is.

After logging in, you are right - it defaults to IP address geolocation for the map.
Here's another one especially for Russell and all those out there who associate Xmas with BBQ's, swimming pools and sunscreen and are tired of living under the bootheel of northern hemisphere oppression:

Thanks all for your welcome comments. Paul's map is exactly what i'd like, showing Australia on top and at the centre of the world!! Hahaha. What originally made me think of this was a recent post by admins on the Facebook page, which had a map of the USA as the static home page. Nothing against the Americans, who I love very much. Much better to see a map of the world, or photos.
Perhaps we could resurrect the photo contest of a few years back (which, I must mention, was won by one of my very own guests - saludos Yosuke!).
I think that's a great idea Paul. Cyclists can and do take great photos.

Yea well, I am half Australian, I felt it was a fair enough request :) At least for a few days.

Oh well, at least we can say we had our moment in the sun, back to playing second fiddle to our northern masters (oh, and the front page looks great).
I have to say that the map of Australia on top of the world is actual reality. Philosophically speaking I think this map should be used sporadically to keep any ethnocentric tendencies of the northern hemisphere in balance. However the changing photos on the front page are simply brilliant. I love them. Thanks to whomever made this change to the site. Thumbs up!!
