Improving Warmshowers' Host/ Guest Feedback

Hello,

I'm not sure whether anyone is familiar with giving feedback on Airbnb and/ or Couchsurfing, but I think it's pretty good, and maybe something that Warmshowers should adopt? On these sites' platforms, after you've hosted someone you get an email to give feedback. You have to give the feedback within a certain timeframe for it to be verified. You also can't see the host of guests feedback until after the timeframe has passed, or until you've also provided feedback.

I hope that makes sense (I probably didn't explain is very well). I thought maybe that could improve the Warmshowers feedback? I think it would make the feedback more true and creditable.

Just a suggestion :)

Good suggestion!

Thanks Kelly!

This is a good suggestion! We need to improve it.

Feedback is editable anytime, this is another issue. Some negative feedbacks have been removed after a few time, because of the continual messages. When you put a negative feedback, the other person gets verbal and tries to explain the problem. It is normal that everyone claims it wasn't a negative one! Finally, you remove it! We need FRESH feedback to be left on the website.

I can't follow your reasoning

I can't follow your reasoning or suggestion Farid. I don't even understand what the problem you are talking about is. Could you rewrite or could someone else who understands it, rephrase it so that I could understand. Maybe others don't understand it either.

I appreciate that English may not be your first language.

Hi!

Sorry Andrea!

in other hospitality networks like Couchsurfing.com the time for putting a feedback ( leaving a reference! ) is limited! I know BeWelcome.org and trustroots.org do not have limited time to leave a feedback. it's a couple of weeks if I'm not mistaken. When It's finished, you wouldn't be able to edit it anymore. It changed last year. some members in there had negative experiences but they used to contact their hosts/guests to remove that negative feedback from their profile, so that they could find new places to stay! It happened to me. I left my guest a neutral reference for the first time on Couchsurfing and he started to email me and tried to explain that it was a misunderstanding, but I fully understood what happened. I didn't remove that negative reference and finally he deleted his profile from the website! I know some hosts remove the negative feedback, because the guests email him/her and make excuses!

It makes sense?! :D

Hi Kelly,

Hi Kelly,

This has been discussed a number of times on the site in the last few years and ranked quite high on the most recent feature poll [ https://www.warmshowers.org/feature_poll ] - I think there is a general desire for this to be implemented but like so many features in the pipeline here the bottleneck is having the necessary hours of coding to dedicate to it.
