Cycling from South Africa to North...which route...etc!

Hello friends in warm Showers!
I sailed from Singapore to Mauritius and from there to south Africa bringing my bicycle along with me intending to cycle all the way to north Africa and into Europe eventually one day...
This is my first time in this continent and with a bicycle!
I would appreciate opinions as to which route would be ... more 'bike-friendly', easier to get accommodation along the way, .... 'safer'... etc etc...
I know there are many things to consider when one is going to 'move around' like this from country to country (one major one may even getting visas on crossing borders and if possible!) intending to reach Marocco 'one day'...
So, any thoughts on this 'possible undertaking' will be welcomed!
Thank you friends and looking forward to read your messages!

Western route

Look into cycling the west (atlantic) side of Africa to Morrocco. Problems in South Sudan, Sudan and Egypt to make it safe. Most riders go for the western route. A lot of information on Internet.

Yes that seems to be a better route and that's what i was looking at from the beginning in order to end up in Morocco!
However, I am going to 'explore' the southern part of Africa by buses first to get a feeling of the place and then i will 'see' what will follow...!
Are you cycling these days or resting?
Wishing you ... joy in Life!

"Most riders go for the western route."

Could I ask where you got that information from? Cairo-Cape Town is a pretty popular route, and it is rather straightforward in terms of the road and the visas needed (or not). Going from Morocco down the western side of Africa (or in the other direction) is a pretty challenging expedition that requires a lot of visas, more time, and more reliable gear due to the lack of tarmac in parts.

.... But just to Mauretania, Senegal or Gambia. The instable countries are more in the South. Nigeria, the Congos are a few of these countries.
