Cycling up and down the Col de Tende - france to Italy (and possibility of train) (responses en francais/espagnol aussi, merci!)

Hi - does anyone have any experience cycling the Col de Tende? I might take the train up with my bike (as I am not in my top shape, I think), though would try riding/walking up if people can give any advice.

If I take the train up, I could cycle down the italian side via Limone Piemonte, down to Cuneo - but does anyone have any experience with this road, and gradients? Safe? etc.

Also, any advice on a place to stay the night near the top, if possible, would be great! Thanks!

Responses in French and spanish welcome too.

Hi!

Hi!
We rode the Tende 2 years ago with our road bikes. Up on the nortsh side, down the gravel on the south side. From our groupe of 10, 2 had a puncture on the downhill. but you'll be fine with a thiker tire. I can totally recomend it, it's a beautiful pass! The north side is nothing to special, easy to ride.
