Partner wanted for east-to-west ride. I will be riding north starting June 9, 2013 from Eminence, MO to the Badlands in S. Dakota. After that I will either try to intercept the Lewis & Clark Trail to head west or just make my own route west from the Badlands. I am a retired 65-year-old male intending to ride 40 to 60 miles per day. Camping mostly, hostels, and Warm Showers when available. I would like to take time to see some of the sights as I ride. I don’t want this to become a point A-to-point B "have to get there by" ride. You can join me for all or part of this trip. Contact: [email protected]

Hi Jim,
I'm giving serious consideration to joining you for part of your continuing trans-Am cycling trip. I live in Winnipeg Manitoba and might be interested in taking a bus down to Eminence for your June 9th departure and cycle with you up to the Badlands from where I will probably continue north to return home. We appear to have a great deal in common. I'm a 63 year old retired Teacher who embarqued a few years ago on a "discover the world by bike project". I have done some kayaking but mostly I canoe. I also mostly camp when I can't be hosted by a Warmshower list member and sometimes stay in hostels when I don't have a host in the big cities. I recently returned from a 3 month cycling tip in Europe where I had some terrific experiences with WSL members in Germany, Switzerland, France and Spain. I too like to take the time to enjoy the trip and do not travel with blinkers, having only the destination in my sights. I imagine you will take about three to four weeks to reach the Badlands. Please let me know if this is of interest to you.
Yves
Hi Yves, I agree it does sound like we have a lot in common. I would welcome your company and the chance to discuss and learn from your bicycling experiences. My touring has been limited to Yorktown, VA – Eminence, MO and Suffolk, VA to Charleston, SC. I have done several 2-3 days trips around VA. I am currently training for the trip west by riding in my local area with my bike loaded for multi-day touring. Weather permitting I will be doing some trips to the Shenandoah Mountains riding the Blue Ridge Parkway. I intend to combine these trips with the use of my stationary trainer and rollers to ensure I am in shape to hit the Ozark Mountains once again.
If you decide you would like to join me we can discuss routes, places to see/visit, etc.
We can reach me by e-mail: [email protected]

Yves, sorry but this trip has been canceled
Hi
I live in Winnipeg as well and I will be biking from Wpg to Saskatchewan on the Red Coat Trail in June July if you are interested or have any advice.
