BEE Japan, Bicycle for Everyone's Earth Ride has been going almost annually since 1997.
You can see the website for full info http://www.beejapan.org
This year, we have a start date in early August from Wakkanai, Hokkaido, and a tentative route including a week volunteering in the Earthquake/Tsunami Disaster area in Northeast Tohoku, and an ultimate destination of Okinawa approximately 2-3 months later (October).
If you would like to join for any part of the ride, please let us know! We can keep updated of our location and if you want to join for 10km or a few days, we would love to have extra company.
We are also seeking hosts who can accommodate 5 stinky cyclists, recommendations for campgrounds, or connections with local people or places (cafe, bookstore, community center, school, etc.) where we might be able to lend a hand, clean a beach, discuss environmental/vegetarian issues, or even just speak English. Please let us know if you have any ideas! The 2012 ride will be much better with your support and ideas, really!
You can email me J at [email protected] with questions, or the team leader at [email protected]
Thanks and happy riding!
J
