Possble to get bike on Tube from Victoria Station to South Kensington Station?

The challenge is that our bikes will be in boxes.
We're stopping in London on our way home from a bike tour in Sicily. We don't want to unbox the bikes just to have to rebox them 2 days later.
Is it possible to drag the boxes onto the Tube or are there lots of stairs to negotiate?
And what do you think of dragging the boxes 750m from South Kensington Station to the hotel?
Thanks for your advice.

Hi Lisa,

If you don't get a good response to your query consider contacting some warmshowers members directly (since not all members follow the forums closely). A quick search tells me that there are 20-odd active ones residing in London.

london in boxes

It's way too long since i was using Vic. but there must be escalators all round.
I'd rather not tho.
You shld see if there's a left-luggage place there..

Best tho wld be to take a train from there to Clapham Junction and thence to Kensington Olympia as i'm q sre such exists. Alighting from a stop nearest yr hotel shld not b emuch worse than yr idea. Then u cld take a black cab - surely they'd fit.

Hmm

TFL's accessibility maps (http://www.tfl.gov.uk/gettingaround/1106.aspx) indicate that neither of those stations are step free - but the circle and district lines that you'd use to get between those stations aren't too far below ground so probably not many steps. And you'd definitely not want to do that in rush hour. :)

Dragging the boxes 750m would be pretty horrible though and presumably you'll have some panniers too. I'd get a cab, it's only a couple of miles and shouldn't cost much.
