Bulgaria - From Danube River to Sofia

Hi,

I plan a trip Vienna - Istanbul. First I will follow the Danube.

Do you know a good way (not too much traffic!) from the Danube (Vidin - Lom) to Sofia?

I need one or two accomodations (I won't take a tent) between due the distance
