Punta Arenas, Chile: bike box

Hi,

I will be riding my bike to Punta Arenas and from there I will fly to Santiago. Does anyone know if it's possible to buy a box for my bike there? Anyone having done the same? Or is there someone who flies to Punta Arenas at the end of January and will have a box...??
Any tips/advice is welcome.

Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Chris

I was wondering when you booked your plane tickets, do you have to inform them that you bring a bike?? Any extra costs?

Cheers

lan

We flew with lan on a cheap ticket which had 2 bags but 23kg total. Got charged for having extra 8kg of gear 22,000 peso so not too bad for 2 bikes and all our gear. So didnt charged for the bike. Spoke with another guy and he was charged us $100. For his bike so would pay to check with your airline.
