Thank You postcard to Warmshowers hosts

Each year I make up a new personalized 'thank you card' for my hosts. I'm so grateful to these generous people for inviting me into their worlds, but not so good at verbalizing it. The rear of the card has room for a personal message and includes all my contact data. ...The card is also good for demonstrating your route when the man-on-the-street wants to know. (Another positive, it makes you the real deal to police, customs agents, park rangers etc... who have never come up against a bicycle tourist. Some don't know what to think.)

:)

I wish I could simply "Like" your idea, Jack ( as in , say, FaceBook). But that option is not provided, so I'll have to Post like this ....

Thanks for the comment.

Hosts really like them. It gives a personal touch.

I too really like the idea -

I too really like the idea - as a host, I mean. I also was really happy to receive a Kangaroo Island cycling sticker for my bicycle from two lovely guests. I imagine that stickers are fairly simple to carry and every time I get on my bike I remember the visit.

Sticker

I hadn't thought of a bicycle sticker. What a great idea. Maybe design my own. ...Thanks for the kind words.

Stickers

I had one made up just for fun. I'll post it to your page if I can. I may go ahead and order some.

You can design your own

You can design your own online and order a roll of stickers - the one I got was an oval shape - from lots of places but I ordered some very cheaply at Staples. They deliver them to the store and you pick them up.

Very cool.

I'll check into it. People like original stuff.

post card from guests

i think my most ambitious couple i have hosted sent me a custom postcard once back home in China one year after they were at my home.
It has 8 small pics from various spots around the world. Trouble is we have only been able to identify 3 of the spots. It was a nice touch for them to remember me after so long on the road.

Great Idea

I was quite surprised when I get the mail one day last December. A couple I had hosted in the summer sent me a Christmas/thank you card. I was not expecting it at all, so when I received it I was quite shocked. It did feel good to receive it just as a thank you that much later, even though it is not necessary. I should be able to start touring the end of this season or start of next and I do like the idea of the stickers. Will have to look into doing something like that.

This years I have received two business cards so far from individuals I have hosted. They have their blog address on them and as Jack pointed out, the route they are following. This does make it much easier to follow them by having that card handy without having to write anything down (other than signing the guest book). When everyone is trying to leave in the morning I have noticed it is much easier to just hand a business card than to try and find pen and paper to write extra information down.

last thing before leaving ...give FB

On my recent tour , I made it a practice to use the Host's WiFi to give a concise + FB as the *last thing* before leaving ... this surprises some Hosts, I hope pleasantly. Maybe it's an original idea. Not least, it prevents forgetting, which I find most Annoying in a Guest !

Anyway, I don't "gush" in my FB, but of course you can ( " gush") later, as FB is Editable..

What does this mean?

"to give a concise + FB"

WS Member WS Member's picture
concise positive FB !

Sorry Jack ... what I meant was "..concise Positive Feedback.." I suppose it could be concisely Negative, if required ! < oj> only joking ...

I get carried away with my abbreviations sometimes !
