Portland Oregon to Portland Maine

Hi
I am biking from Portland Oregon to Portland Maine. I am trying to find a route to take as I would imagine others have made this journey before, but I can't seem to find one. I feel a little anxious about not having it planned out already as I am leaving central california on tuesday to bike up to oregon. I have no friends that ride distance and I am unsure if I have to ride on highway part of the time? Does anyone know of a site that I can find different routes and trails on? Thank you in advance! :D

Check out Adventure Cycling

Check out Adventure Cycling Assoc. They have lots of routes. You would probably primarily use the Northern Tier Route and break off that at the end to get to Portland, ME. Lots of starting options. Be sure to ride Glacier National Park's Going to the Sun road in Montana. You WILL have to ride on the road 98% of the time but ACA's routes are usually pretty good. I did the NT way back in 1986 and enjoyed it. Best, John

You will be fine. Literally,

You will be fine. Literally, tens of thousands of people have used ACA routes. Go to CrazyGuyonabike.com and review the journals for various routes. Beware, bike touring is addictive, started when I was young and still doing it almost 40 years later. Best, John
