Hi everyone,
I'm going to Röthenbach im Emmental for a danse festival (where I work as a volunteer). It is more convenient to take my car there but once the festival is over I really want to go cycling in Switzerland. (I've got bike and saddle bags in car). Is it safe to leave the car unattended for a few days? would there be any problem with the police?any better options?
Thanks very much for your reply,
Agnès
Hi Agnès
It depends where you want to leave your car. Some parkings are only for a few hours, some for days, some free, some with charge... In smaler towns it's worth to check out the parking space next to the church. They are often free and for unlimited time.
Usually there is no safety problem to leave your car when there are no valuables to see inside.
If you cycle trough Zurich we would bevhappy to host you.
Have a good trip

Hi Yvonne and Iwan,
I had to give up because of the awful weather and the difficulty to park anywhere without feeling guilty...I really want to try again. I want to cycle South to reach the Italian Lakes. I've looked at the different passes and found the Simplon pass but two things: apparently there is a (very very) high bridge (...and I suffer from vertigo) and there seems to be a lot of tunnels (never good for cyclists). Do you know by any chance how to avoid both ordeals?
I really hope to reach Zurich one day and would love to meet you!
Agnès
Hi Agnès
We never cycled or drove by car over Simplon Pass. So we don't know about this route. But for cycle routes in Switzerland, check out this website: http://www.veloland.ch/en/veloland.html
Don't ferl guilty to leave your car! In small towns ir on parking at the beginning of walkingtracks you can normally leave your car for free and unlimited time!
Best wishes
