Need some help in Gothenburg

We will be ending our two month European tour in Gothenburg in early August and need some logistical help getting our bikes home!
Before we left for Europe, we were able to get some bicycle boxes from a local shop so we could pack our bicycles for the airplane. I've tried emailing a few shops in Gothenburg to see if they have boxes or offer a service to pack bicycles, but unfortunately I have not heard back from any of them. Is anyone aware of shops that either offer a packing service or have old bicycle boxes available? We'd like to try to figure this out before we get to Gothenburg so we're not scrambling at the last minute.
Additionally, we need to get our packed bicycles to the airport. Would it be appropriate to take a boxed bicycle on the bus or should we try to find a taxi? After reading wikitravel it looks as though taxi services are unregulated. Any ideas on how to navigate this without paying a ton of money?
If any warm showers members of the Gothenburg community would be willing to help us transport our bicycles to the airport with their own vehicles, we would be very grateful and would certainly pay some cash for your troubles! We leave early the morning of 3 August and are staying at the Landvetter airport hotel the evening of the 2nd.

Hi,
I'm NOT in Göteborg. I read Your post and try to help You.
I recommend to write a mobile phone number in Your profile. It's easier to contact You.
What shops did You contact?
Have You got any link or phone number?

Boxes

Heyy, Childstore get new bikes quite frequently so they might have some boxes for you. I'll text my friend who works there tomorrow to see if they can save you some.

Could maybe help

Hello!
I live in Gothenburg! As said from Marie above there is fixed prices to the airport in some taxi company's. Bicycles are not allowed to take on the bus. I think I am free on the 2nd of august and could possibly help you out with driving you (and the bikes) to the airport hotel.
There is I bicycle shop just where I live, I can try to find time to ask them about the boxes after work tomorrow. Otherwise I can't help with that since I'm leaving Gothenburg directly after work on Wednesday and getting home again late Sunday. /Hannah

Bikes do go on the bus!

Hello,

I took my bicycle on the bus to the airport in Gothenburg, packed in a cardboard bike box, four weeks ago. Here's what I found out:

If you call the bus company, they will tell you that you can take a bike on the bus, if there is enough space. That is also what the drivers tell you, even though their understanding of "enough space" might differ from yours. When I had to do it there was indeed more passengers as usual (i.e. 75% full instead of the regular 20% to 50%), summer vacation time

Anyways, here comes the trick: Don't try to hop on the bus on one of the stops on the way, go to central station where the bus starts! You will be able to be the first boarding the bus, putting a bike at the one spot where there is space before people start sitting there (and cannot move, according to the bus driver).
More importantly, the buses have a trunk!! And the drivers won't tell you that on their way, or they don't know it. The trunk opens just behind the back door, and it fits perfectly one bike lying flat. It might not fit two, unless it is accessible from the other side as well, or unless there is a second trunk.

I usually get my boxes from a shop down the street. If you want I can check these days and pick some up for you.

Cheers!

Did you get the cardboard

Did you get the cardboard boxes you need? I know some people working in a e-bike assembly factory in the south part of town. Think that they would have loads of boxes.

Thank you everyone for your

Thank you everyone for your help! We were able to get in touch with Sportson and they are going to package our bikes for a reasonable rate. We've contacted some of you who have made offers to help us privately. We really appreciate your responses!!

Regarding taking the bikes on

Regarding taking the bikes on the bus in cardboard boxes that is PERFECTLY FINE. Most local bike shops carries extra boxes (even the ones down town) and putting your bikes inside those there is NO PROBLEM getting them on the airport bus (https://www.flygbussarna.se/en) as long as you jump onto the busses at the central station which is the first stop. Me and my friends have always just walked onboard the busses, putting the boxes on the shelves and then letting other passengers put their luggage on our boxes.

The BEST of luck and glad you got so many people helping you!
Cheers
Elias
