Seeking info for route loosely following the Appalachian Trail, Mississippi to Maine. I've crossed the Appalachians on the GAP/C&O trail and last year in the Smokies, but no regional experience beyond that. See map. https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=1i0KhZemjJMRFimHumPjW_pr3_pw&ll=33.92384208234652%2C-95.70898639999996&z=4

where are you
at home
In Maine the green route doesn't look particularly enjoyable. Much better scenery along the red route, especially from Rockland to Lubec. From Freeport to Rockland you're quite far from the ocean due to a series of long points of land, but the towns are nice along route 1. In New Hampshire you can go either straight through the mountains on route 112, which is very steep, or skirt the mountains to the south by going through the Lakes Region.
