Bike transport in Chile

We are seeking info on transport options for bikes near the end of the Carretera Austral.

which bus lines, and which airlines, are most likely to accept touring bikes?

we will need to get back to Santiago end of February.

thanks for suggestions

Boat

There is a ferry from puerto natales to puerto montt. It's stunning landscape and Nice to relax after the carresterra.

Ferry

Good option.....may be expensive, and perhaps hard to get berths ?

Getting back up from Villa O

Getting back up from Villa O'Higgins can be difficult by bus as it is a small bus, maybe the bike can be put on top. The plane does not have any space for a bike. It flies to Coyhaique. From there you might find bigger busses but only in the high season. Alternatively you can hitch-hike with your bike along the whole Carretera Austral. Lots of pickups who are willing to give you a ride, especially in the high season.
