Cycling in Mexico-route from Monterrey to Toluca area

Hi, 

In a few months I want to do some climbing in Monterrey area before cycling to Toluca. I do not know the area at all so abide by the quickest way according to Googlemaps. Has anyone cycled all or part of this ? How busy are the roads and how enjoyable is the ride?
