I'm visiting family in Kamloops this August and thought, why don't I ride my bike there?!
Has anyone ridden Vancouver to Kamloops and, if so, which way did you go? I'm opting towards Highway 1 which goes through Lytton/Spences Bridge as it's less busy and fewer giant hills, though it adds about 100km. Strangely, if you choose the cycling option on Google Maps, it won't let you choose that route. The Coquihalla Highway seems like a terrible bike ride with all the big trucks that go past at mock 10 though at least it has a shoulder most of the way.
I would be riding about 100km a day (staying in Hope, Lytton & Cache Creek) and am looking at taking public transportation as far as possible past Vancouver to avoid the city and shave off some time. Thinking I will need 3-4 days for this trip. And then I'm looking at taking Via Rail back as they allow bikes (or hitch a ride with a friend).
Recommendation welcome! I found 1 blog online about this route and have seen many cyclists on it.
