I'm returning to Ireland in June-July of 2021 to enjoy more of the best bicycle touring in Europe along the rugged and scenic West Coast, outlying islands and in Northern Ireland. Planning to share the adventure with one other sociable, adventurous M/F cyclist over 40. If you've never been to Ireland before - or even if you have - you're in for a treat.
Flying to and from Shannon. Four weeks of biking in counties Clare, Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Donegal, Derry, Antrim, Cork and Kerry, plus visits to Belfast and Dublin. 40-60 miles a day with overnights in the country's fabulous B&Bs. Expect intermittent daily rain, little sunshine and highs in the 50s-60s F.
A country-wide network of lightly traveled rural roads, stunning mountain passes, beautiful greenery, prehistoric settlements and ring forts, great beers, good food, the Gaeltacht (Irish-speaking regions), colorful towns and villages, lively trad music in the pubs and the world's friendliest people make Ireland ideal for bike touring.
