Hi, i'm touring in southeast Asia, right know in Thailand.
Does anyone know how to go from Singapur to java by ferry in the cheapest way??
In 20 days i'll be in Malaysia. Going to Penang to get the 60 days indonesian visa. Do you know if it is posible without fly tikect.
Thank you all

You can take a 45 minute ferry to the Indonesian island of Batam from the ferry terminal at Harbourfront then a 30 hour ferry to Jakarta aboard the KM Kelud. When I did it this only left Batam every two weeks so be sure to time your arrival in Batam carefully.
You can book it on the Pelni website. http://www.pelni.co.id/
Hi the ferry is poor and expensive. You can fly with bicycle easily to Jakarta I used Garuda free luggage and cycle
Thank you guys.
Only one ship every two weeks??
I'd really like to go cycling rather than by plane but if the boat is once every 2 weeks may be i should take the plane..
How about cycling in sumatra. Could be another option but i ear that it's really tought there...
hey man,
i did a three week tour in java last year and found really interesting but a little busy for cycling. the roads are crazy and wild camping sparse. i thought north sumatra was ace! fantasitic places and people and cool travellers
Hey Joseba,
There is another option to the Batam island. From the terminal of Tanah Merah in Singapore there is a boat to the island of Tanjung Pinang in INdonesia , and you can connect with a PELNI ferry onto other islands from there. That is what I did but in the other direction. The Pelni website is a little bit tricky to find out how it works sometimes, but once you know the names of the boats and their itinerary it s much easier to figure it out. It can take a while to find the dates that best suit us...and also some ferries are cheaper than others. Let me know if you have any questions, I have cycled in Indonesia for one year. But without no doubt I would recommend taking the ferry to Indonesia (a crazy experience in itself!!) instead of flying.
