Fellow cycling adventurist. I am planning a cycling trip from Delhi to Leh starting mid August 22. I usually tour on my own but sometimes it would be good to share the adventure, excitement and laughter along the way. I am from the UK, 61 and just retired from the rat race.
Distance or time is not a problem and I like to drift into the general planned direction and to soak up all the unexpected along the way. Simply let the adventure unfold in front of me. If you are interested drop me a message. Many thanks and happy cycling. Clive

Hello Clive
Have you travelled to India before? If yes, then you are probably prepared. If not then be advised that cycling in India particularly the plains of North India can be a bit daunting. Its the traffic on the main highways, the population density of Haryana, Punjab and UP states, the inquisitive people coming on to you, lack of solitude when you camp, are some of the travails of the bicycle traveller here.
I would recommend taking the train out from Delhi to say Chandigarh and add the days saved cycling and seeing more of the Himalayas. Or take the train to Bikaner (my hometown) which is due west of Delhi on the desert border with Pakistan, and start cycling from here along the border on this fantastic new road. Till you reach the lush irrigated areas of Sri Ganganagar and later Punjab the road is absolutely empty. That way you'll avoid the crappy western UP and eastern Haryana area.
Just my thoughts. Enjoy your trip nevertheless.
