Hi, we're planning to ride EV6 between Basel, Switzerland and Dompierre sur Bresbre in France during 2nd half of May. It works better for us to Ride East to West from Basel to Dompierre (not far from Digoin). Is that a bad idea? Most people seem to ride West to East, although this stretch would be downhill a lot riding East to West. Thanks!

Most wind comes from West but that far inland wind direction is not of major concern.

Hi, did several tours along the EV6 in France. Wind is a case if you do the Loire river and you come closer to the coast. However, when we've been around Nantes this summer, the wind changed several times -_-. I would recommend you to ride from Basel to Bresbre - it's a wonderful tour … in both directions :D

We fought west winds from Budapest to Nantes last summer. Start early before winds get gusty.

I rode EV6 last summer.  EV6 is very flat since if follows rivers and canels.  As such, you won't notice going downhill at all.  However you will be facing a headwind most of the way.
