Hi all! I’m cycling Vancouver to Tijuana beginning March 10, if you have any input on the route, or advice for this route in general, I would love to hear it! I’m prepared for a cold and rainy cycle down the coast. I’m planning to mostly wild camping, hiker biker sites and stay with hosts when in cities :) thanks!

Hi Megan!
I have no advice but I wanted to say hi as our paths should cross. Our departure date is March 8 from Imperial Beach California. We are heading north to Alsaka along the Pacific Coast Bike Route.
May our paths cross and stories be shared,
Angie

There are not a lot of route options in California and Oregon - keep the ocean on your right. There are often bike route signs too. The ACA maps are very good. I think they have an app now too. The "Cycling the Pacific Coast" book is good and gives some options in Washington and British Columbia.

I toured from San Diego to the northern tip of California along the Pacific Coast Trails.

California does have hike/bike campsites at state campgrounds for $5/night I think. 1 or 2 night max stay. If your camping these are your only cheap options.

There isn't many places to camp along the Pacific Coast Trail. Not compared to Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico and Arizona.

But there are many amazing host along highway 1 & 101

Amazing bike lanes/paths with beautiful coastal views.

My IG bikepacklife has some pics of campgrounds/ocean views along the trail if you want to check it out.

Hey, hope your trip is going well so far! I live in LA and have bike toured from the Canadian border to Florence, OR and from Sausalito, CA to the Mexican border, using a mix of campgrounds and small hotels. Feel free to hit me up if you need any specific info/tips along the way. And if you don't mind venturing inland 10 miles when passing LA, I'd be happy to provide accommodation. 310-867-1092 Happy travels!
